I think you greatly overlook opportunity, as part of those equations, both in making the tourney, seeding, and then making a subsequent run. That's why I often look hard at any MM at large selections and if they get a decent seed as potential sleepers to make a deep run. First, they have to be really good to get an at large in the first place as opposed to a mediocre middle of the pack P-5, and then, they often get a better seed than a MM/LM tourney champion would , so they don't get automatically set up as cannon fodder for a top 2-3 seed. Like picking MM's who get a seed between 7-12 in first couple rounds.
