player we signed out of high school by beating out other national level programs also vying for his services? For these purposes I'm not talking about transfers, guys who already committed elsewhere and then decommitted and picked MU, or guys who we had no real serious competition for.

Jakeenan Gant committed to MU around this time of year in 2013 and picked MU over programs like Georgia, Indiana, Syracuse, S. Carolina, and Marquette. He had some qualifying academic issues that caused us to have to operate in some grey areas but I think by most any definition he counts.

Am I missing someone or have we not really had anyone like that since 2013? We used to have several in every recruiting class pretty much.
