because he made the decision to transfer from Penn (the Ivy League) to Grand Canyon. (Seriously, I'm not making it up.)

He had zero experience in college sports when he was hired.

Now let's compare that to his "less qualified predecessor"...

Delany's alma mater is UNC (not Grand Canyon) and we can be sure he wasn't admitted because of affirmative action.

Before the Big Ten hired him as their AD, he worked at the NCAA for years... until he left to become commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference. That's called relevant experience, and it certainly made him qualified to be the commissioner of the Big Ten.
