engage in NIL, knowing that it would make the player ineligible.
In other words, you're right that schools can't stop it, but it's possible the NIL deals wouldn't happen with the threat of NCAA sanctions. Imagine how unpopular a player and business would be for getting the team banned from NCAA competition.
There would certainly be pressure on the NCAA if it goes that route, but there would also be immense pressure on state and federal lawmakers to negotiate.
As I said, it would be fascinating to watch it play out.
