so many posters are with regard to living in a republic such as ours.

Imagine this. There is a man holding a gun to a child's head. He says to you and two others "If all three of you say let the child go and I will let the child go. All you need to do is say the word."

The other two say "let the child go." You say nothing. The child is shot and killed. You then say, "I had nothing to do with it. I didn't participate. It was the others who are responsible for the death of the child."

And they find virtue and wisdom in this manner of thinking.
