Stopping to check on your friend, no problem.

Filming the process, no problem as long as you are doing it from a safe distance.

Going to the car in question, huge problem. Are you going there to tamper with evidence or possibly get a weapon?

Police have a very difficult job. In a stressful situation they do not need any added variables. They have to assume that any added actions are hostile until the situation is under control.

Stay back and let them do their job. Don't create problems for the police and very likely your friend as well.
