his son & buddy to hunt the guy down,

The video clearly shows an unarmed jogger, make an evasive move to avoid a guy who has gotten out of a pickup with a shotgun (another guy with a pistol in the back of the truck). Unarmed guy gets shot by armed guy - that's enough to arrest the two armed guys.
