It is lack of rejection. It is faith in Christ.

John 11:25-26
"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

The point being, we cannot keep the commandments. That is why Jesus came. To pay the price we could not. And the only path to that salvation is through faith in the work of Christ.
