And it cannot be disproven. More than likely, scientists said it and a lot of people just went along because, well, scientists said it. No healthy skepticism. No common sense questioning. It is amazing that so many of us predicted this playing out as it has. But some just believe that if a person with a bunch of letters after their name says it, you cannot question it.
