Much as anything else. But if we had let him go after 05 like you suggest, we could have gotten someone terrible much easier than we got someone who could have led us to the promised land. A lot more terrible coaches out there than nick Sabans. I will forever be grateful for what Gary Pinkel did for Mizzou. When I started school at Mizzou, people wore shorts that said “Mizzou Football” on the front, and on the back it read, “Its all about the beer.” And it was. No pride. Nobody cared when the game was on. If you went to the game, you didn’t actually go INTO the game...you stayed outside and tailgated and drank beer. It was pathetic. By the time the Brad Smith era was over, people CARED again. Hearts and minds man. If you can’t see that, then you are blind. They ought to build Gary a statue. And I say that even with how much I hate the fiasco he allowed to happen in the last season he was here. I know he was put between a rock and a hard place and had personal issues to deal with, but he still let the inmates run the asylum. So yes...I see his flaws...but there weren’t many coaches that could have turned a whole program around like he did...getting us within a half of a game to the national title game twice...pretty incredible if you ask me...
