.. we could have lost to SC and GP would have been retained I'm pretty sure, but if we had not beaten ISU we would not have gone to a bowl (we won 6 that year during the regular season) and poof, there goes HC GP. That would have been the second year in a row without a bowl.

Also of note: Chase came in when Smith went down with some sort of ankle or foot injury agaist SC and got a first down or two, before Smith returned. I think we scored on that drive, too.

I was amazed that Smith could come back against SC and do as well as he did after he dropped and had to have his ankle/foot re-taped (limping badly). He came back in and didn't even limp ... tough guy.
