Many including Koetter mention the Fifth Down game as the turning point, but I always felt the Tigers were on the cusp again the next year with Johnson, Bailey and Chamberlain. The Tigers were 3-2-1 with a win over an Illinois bowl team and a tie against an Indiana bowl team. Then Bailey and Chamberlain both got hurt in the next game and missed most of the rest of the season. The bottom fell out and Stull never seemed close to turning the corner again. I always wondered what might have happened had Bailey and Chamberlain stayed healthy. Stull probably does too.
