had joeboo's kid not needed surgery he'd have been done with the process too. but since he does need surgery, that takes the situations pretty different.

also possible the Canadian doctor recommended against surgery because he didn't think it was worth the cost and hassle. that's a pretty common flaw with socialized medicine.
