days at Mercy downtown. They couldn't find much so referred him to other specialities in the hospital and discharged him. Working with Mercy is a damn nightmare. Departments don't talk to each other at all. A doctor in one department can refer you to another with very specific tests or procedures to do and they will still have to do an "intro" appointment at the other speciality just to get you setup to do the actual procedure or test. And they are always backed up weeks in every speciality so unless you are admitted, you are looking at weeks & weeks to get answers. I can't tell you how many times we were asked the same questions over and over and over again at every appointment even though it was in his chart. We got to the point where we printed up a sheet with everything he'd been tested for, what his symptoms are, and what procedures and drugs he was on because the doctors couldn't be troubled to look at his chart and just asked the same exact questions at every single appointment.
I get that if you are going between hospitals that there will be some lack of communication. But the lack of doctors communicating within Mercy is absolutely insane.
