I missed the mention of the conference playoff (play in). Honestly, it has some merit. I think it's too many games and limits the teams playing in the post season vs today (last year 13 SEC teams played in bowls). It does have some big advantages:
1. Takes the human element out and everything is settled on the field.
2. Drives Conference Rivalry even more as that's really all that matters now to get into playoffs.
3. Eliminates the meaningless bowl games.
4. Elongates the season and drives more revenue for CFB.
5. Stops/slows conference realignment
I appreciate how Drink thinks though, Once you go to 16 teams it seems natural that this could be on the table. Especially as college athletic depts are trying to figure out how to drive revenue after the House verdict.
