have a playoff to qualify for the CFP.
SEC and big ten would each have 8 teams (4 games) playoff on what is currently conference championship weekend. So then SEC and big ten would end up with 4 teams in the CFP.
The ACC and big 12 would each get 6 teams in a playoff on conference championship weekend so they would end up with 3 automatic bids in the CFP.
Thus 30 teams. 8 SEC, 8 big ten, 6 ACC, 6 big 12 and 2 at large.
I think that would leave 2 at large bids still basically for a G5 team and probably Notre Dame.
Drink admitted his math may be off a bit, but wants to take the selection of teams out of the hands of a committee.
The number of games to be national champion would remain as today at 16 games.
