Manufacturing in the US will cost more. Businesses are beholden to investors to maintain profit margins. They’ll either have to automate away more manufacturing jobs or depress wages for factory workers to maintain efficiency ratios.

Trump’s moves aren’t about the middle class. They are about protecting the wealthy, particularly Silicon Valley. The US financial and treasury markets are no longer a global safe haven with $37 trillion in debt and a rotted out core. He is trying to increase foreign investments in physical capital to keep dollars circulating back into the US.
