Your little assessment is accurate to a point and then goes quite off the rails.

Losing manufacturing jobs, leaving primarily service jobs (hello Walmart) depressed wages. Bringing manufacturing back isn't going to depress wages. Making things in the US is both about economic security and national security. The people that apparently loved the status quo is growing and rather amusing, comprised of such diverse groups as libertarians, true conservatives, liberals, GOPe types of course, neocons, former peaceniks, and greenies, among others. I guess we all yearn for GWB or Obama as POTUS again so life would be grand!

It will never be 1950 in America again but it can be better than it is now, and companies have already announced many investments in US manufacturing. It's happening.
