That does not and has never existed. That’s Plato’s Republic. No society has ever tried to implement it.
The elite would never allow a meritocracy as it involves equal opportunity in education, then filtering people based upon aptitude and performance, which means their offspring would have to start at the bottom like everyone else.
The meritocracy BS being thrown out by this current administration and the ignorant posters here is a lie, so far removed from what a meritocracy is. Instead it’s some circle jerk for the successful to give themselves full credit for the success they’ve had, ignoring all external factors, and to attack those who aren’t success as being at fault, with no regard to external factors.
