but if we use the poorly crafted US News and other rankings, the real benefit to Mizzou (as to rankings) would be an increased application pool from which Mizzou could reject more kids, resulting in likely a higher incoming GPA and SAT/ACT along with a higher rejection rate. Improve those numbers and Mizzou goes up in the rankings, leading to better students, and so on.
It's a racket.
