Day at Ohio State was asking for $10 million, we had already been getting a nice jump in recruiting, apparently have a fairly decent NIL thing going on and are now adding $12 million to that.
Having a stadium that is more on par with our peers is quite important as well and can pay dividends long into the future. Some of those additional fans may become NIL donors as well.
We also don't know if the donor requested that split in the allocation. Perhaps he wasn't impressed with the pee troughs for the men and the huge lines for the women's bathrooms... or family and friends not being able to buy tickets for big games.
