If we had gotten high end transfers, then they would be playing and we would probably have won a couple more games by now, but the freshman would be getting even less experience than they already are, and that would only serve to screw up the future.
I’ve said since last spring that one of the most important goals of this season would be to get the freshman ready for next year. I don’t think any of us believe that is being done.
We don’t owe Jesus anything, sit him down. We don’t owe Vanover anything, sit him down. I think Tonje would be contributing if he was healthy, but he’s not so it doesn’t matter. Majak should never see the court.
We don’t owe Grill anything, so if he gets healthy and is not contributing, then sit him down. But as we have seen, he does play defense, he does rebound, and we know that he’s capable of getting hot from outside.
Robinson, Pierce, and Butler should all get at least 15 minutes, BUT they need to be appropriately portioned minutes so that they are developing chemistry, and learning good habits instead of bad by not being in survival mode. Bates needs to be a part of that, because he will be a critical component next year.
