I don't think most people thought that at all

They saw last year as a "cupboard is bare I hope some of these guys work out" crapshoot. Lucky for us several worked out and it was a good year. But it was also very much a short term electric shock to resuscitate a dead program.

Most looked at this year as a "keep it alive until his recruits get here" year. He has a couple of promising freshmen but everyone else is filler.

Next year will be an important year to show progress on the court and to maintain momentum in recruiting.
