pretty dramatically in a very short time, and everyone is just guessing since the bankrolls are not exactly published publicly.
One possibility is that we have a smaller bankroll than many/most of our SEC peers and we're getting outbid on the incoming freshman class.
Or, it could be that Drink's switching priorities and keeping his powder dry to bid on some diamonds in the rough at other programs who could help us out. Hopper made a pretty big difference for us.
I imagine that having in-state recruits come in as freshmen would give us a bit of an advantage if they mature well and become big contributors. On the other hand, we would lose some/many(?) to other programs when they grow into those positions & prove themselves on the field.
In those situations, how much money would have been spent on recruiting, NIL, training and using up a roster spot only to have them bolt for another program right as they would become most valuable to the team? Being a farm system for Georgia, Alabama & LSU probably isn't the most prudent way to spend the available dollars.
