point? If they felt threatened by his actions that day, that is one thing - but how could they have been threatened by his "history of violence"?

When someone gets choked to death - there should be a lot of explaining - regardless of whether the choker is a a cop or by a "good samaritan". A manslaughter charge, playing out in front of a jury of his peers appears to be the correct course of action.
