Not really. The NIL money are not payments, but comes from deals with businesses and personal sales. Before that was not allowed, but players won the case which allows them to receive money for the likeness on video games as well as their name on team apparel. Buisnesses may now use players to influence others to shop their stores, buy their products or eat at their establishments. Coaches do not have a say. The collectives have been establish to help the athletes stay eligible while cashing in on their fame and to advise the athletes on taxes and such.
