Agree with the general idea that we need to improve through the portal.
In softball, Gallagher and Jackson haven’t really helped much at all. If they had produced a lot we probably would have won several more games. We likely could have overcome a weak catcher position. We had some pitching recruits in this class and a really good one next year. The portal additions were good prospects, but just haven’t been productive.
In WBB Gilbert could have been a key cog to improving the team. Maybe the layoff from injuries etc. have slowed her progress toward stardom. You can see the raw ability. At least I think so, and we have seen glimpses of it. We needed a center, but Travis and Trusty were supposed to be available and injuries wrecked their careers. Several of the SEC teams benefitted a lot from transfers (Alabama and Arkansas got some good additions).
I just think filling in your needs through the transfer portal is vital in todays NCAA competition.
