I think where we don't belong is the level of football madness. I've heard about the atmosphere in Death Valley, we're never going to approach that. We can sell out and have a loud crowd but it's just not on that level. 2013/2014 were total outliers, a great experience but we're now a million miles away from what we were then.
I almost posted a question yesterday wondering what situation we would be in right now if 2010 rolls around but suppose our football program was in the position it was in 10 years before or 10 years after-are we in the SEC right now? I don't think so, regardless of how many TV sets we have in the state.
We're very lucky to be in the SEC, and have been treated very well. Do I wish we were in the Big10? At times I do - I think every school has a group of academics who will always be against the role athletics play. Historically, they've harmed Mizzou athletics more than most schools. We could hide in the Big10, you cant' hide in the SEC.
With regards to other fans coming here-they are mainly kansas fans, which is a rivalry unlike any other. People don't know or understand it because our teams generally haven't mattered but the civil war wasn't fought here North to South, it was fought East to West. Unfortunately the winners write the history of the war, and the fact they've named themselves after a terrorist organization says all you need to know about them.
I think the SEC will regret getting into bed with texas, or at a minimum frustrated by it as they've already ruined 2 other conferences. Or maybe it will make for great rivalry.
