Imagine if the NFL didn't have payroll caps and other restrictions, and the Chiefs had to bid against LA/NY/Chicago/Boston/Atlanta/Philly/Houston/Dallas/Miami on the open market to retain *their own players* every year. That would be the end of the KC Chiefs.
