Seems like restraint of trade between to parties.
Yes, I know that’s kind of BS but Congress can’t stop John Smith college student from working for Taco Bell. So if YUM brands wants to contract with players that so happen to play sports at Louisville, I don’t see a huge difference. Not sure I see the law as a savior here but I could be wrong.
I would rather see schools get out of sports and see a return of the Phillips 66ers and other Industrial leagues that sponsored minor league sports/teams. That would satisfy my need for more purity in the world. Schools sponsoring teams that are contingent upon private arrangement between business and individual seems ridiculously complicated so as to have a sports team at a school.
