The U.S. middle class is Putin's ultimate target. Unless and until Putin gives up his desire to expand his control beyond the borders of Russia, he (and Russia) is a threat to the U.S. and it's middle class. Far better to fight him through a Ukrainian proxy in Ukraine than with NATO on the North German Plain.
