First of all, it wasn't intentionally ending the game with a weaker lineup. It was ending the game with the best possible lineup based on the rules. Same with soccer. Once you sub for a player, you can't bring them back. Typically your starters are the best and at the end of the game you bring in lesser players for defense/offense or just fresh legs. Same with Rugby. Basketball has starters foul out and doesn't always end the game with a better lineup than the starters.
