why would you use it?

If you are for baseball purity then you should demand that the players not wear gloves either.

The strategy behind the double switch does not offset the pitcher striking out the other three at bats.

Before the DH was implemented baseball was the only sport that intentionally ended the game with a weaker lineup than what they started with.
