VERY difficult to become a perennial top 10 program unless you just find the magical coach that will stay at Mizzou. Drink is recruiting very well and it’s possible that he’s close enough to home without the pressure of actually being home that he might stay.
That being said, our goal should be to be a perennial 8 game winner that can jump up and take the division and maybe even the conference from time to time.
4 in the non con, Scar, Kent, Vandy should be givens. 1 more isn’t that hard.
Combine that with a hoops program that is in the ncaa 9/10 years with a sweet sixteen in 5-6/9 and a FF once or twice a decade. It is a failure of epic proportion‘s that Mazzu has not been able to Maine this sort of stability in basketball. No I’m not saying it’s our birthright to be Duke or North Carolina, but there are 14 programs that have made more NCAA tournaments than Mizzou that are complete and total BS to be ahead of us.
It does not take a Bama or A&M budget to pull this off.
Throughout our history, Mizzou’s number one problem in athletics is that the administration of the University did not prioritize athletics.
Why did Duke become Duke or why did Bama become Bama? Because 50 or 60 or 70 years ago, they fvcking decided that’s what they wanted to do. If you go back to that era, Mazzu had more built-in natural advantages than schools like that, but we did not care enough to become great. It is now too late for us to simply decide that we want to become a program like that, we will have to scratch and claw for every inch to move up.
