well and keeps a good flow of incoming talent, the line of succession will be fine. Plus, when you consider that the best players go pro after 3 years, isn't the portal kind of the same? A guy has a good year or 2 and enters the portal or transfers.
The danger to me for the portal is that, not a lot of freshmen are impact players, so you figure you'll see some of them enter the portal since they weren't good enough to crack the starting lineup. There goes your line of succession...
But NIL can be weaponized to lure the best players to the schools with the deepest alumni pockets (as it's always been, but now there are many extra 0's behind the number of $$).
Mizzou alumni don't seem to be terribly generous so far. But trust me, once I win the Powerball drawing tomorrow night, I'll be laying down some serious jack for NIL.
