I think it's a spectrum. Good and stable is best. Bad and stable with hope and Good and unstable with immediate gratification are OK. Bad and unstable suck. If the whole market becomes unstable, that raises the stakes significantly on being consistently good. Otherwise I think you lose people quickly.
