1. He was the best candidate we could get. This is not true, but some people still think it might have been.
2. Mike Alden was forced to hire a black coach by a black university president and a black BoC president.
3. Mike Alden thought that hiring a black head coach would appease the aforementioned people above him enough to prevent them from firing him.

What Fiji said is accurate. It was a circus.
