disparity in yearly money each conference receives. Every year that goes by widens the gap. This disparity will be the dynamic that will force hard choices to be made for individual teams relative to their conference affiliation.
Texas and Oklahoma had options on the future of their athletic programs. They chose the SEC. They did not choose the ACC, B1G, PAC 12 or to be independent.
We have already heard several school presidents say they are monitoring the situation and will not be left behind on the next round of realignment.
The Scheduling alliance does not change the financial disparity going forward as there is no effective counter to the SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma.)
The remaining conferences have limited options to expansion as there are no marquis teams available except Notre Dame and they are contractually tied to the ACC until 2036 if they are no longer to remain independent.
If this realignment is about contraction then there are limited options there going forward as well.
