Seems like a good avenue for ku and one other school to go to PAC to give them 14 teams to make scheduling arrangements work easily with B14 & ACC 14. And have great inventory for selling hoop matchups. I think ku’s biggest asset to these other leagues beyond hoops is their more liberal culture and AAU status. That’s going to hurt Tech and Okie State. Only Iowa State seems like a similar fit and I’m just not sure they have enough juice with no elite revenue sport.
If a school gets locked out of a P4 conf and has some juice, they might make a nice living as an independent to help fill SEC noncon schedules if the other leagues freeze SEC out. (Although I would think Clemson v USCe, GA v Tech, FL v FSU may continue as exceptions to the Alliance’s war against the SEC; although those 3 ACC schools could find themselves with killer schedules with new PAC & B10 commitments too.) BYU will surely find an attractive schedule without a league. Baylor and TCU may want to think about such a world. Perhaps B12 leftovers will find many SEC opponents on their schedule too. Which they will want to keep their school’s profile higher. There certainly is potential for SEC noncon schedules to be kind of junky.
Will be watching FSU & Clemson enthusiasm for Alliance. Still feel like they are SEC targets for the future. And probably a NC and VA school to expand brand reach with likeminded schools (See Tech & NC State). I don’t see the SEC adding a USC or Ohio St. to join what is still a regional league. If that is going to happen, then the big brands might as well shed themselves of the lessor brands and leagues and create a completely new entity.
