wasn't featured in the OP. The PAC 12 was shown as a golden 'no departures in 50 years' conference, as if that means something.
But it doesn't really.
There's nothing special about '50 years of no departures' so why even focus on it?
My point is Texas practically blew up the Big 12 from inception by not fundamentally understanding how a conference works.
The whole idea of one program 'carrying' another is the seed of destruction for conferences, so careful agreeing to that narrative.
Are Alabama, GA, FL & TN 'carrying' us?
If that's true then our day in the LB8 is coming.
Heck if that's true then TX is already carrying the SEC because they have the largest revenue program.
The Big 8 was a good conference. The SWC was a good conference. Mainly because there was a balance of super, mid & patsy level teams and those teams changed places at least a little bit over the years.
Texas misunderstood what makes a good TV deal at Big 12 inception, and then doubled down on stupid with the Longhorn Network.
A good division has a few top teams with a reasonable chance of making it through the conference schedule.
I hope the SEC isn't just about to cook it's own goose.
