Yes they have much more knowledge of the subject than I do. But there are others out there with much more knowledge than them.

The term expert is relative. I know more about the subject than 99% off the people. Compared to people with degrees in the subject I am on the lower end because I did not continue to an advanced degree. That does not mean I am not an expert in my subject.
