happens in the mean time? Say my roof is leaking. I would prefer my roof not have the leak. I know the best approach is to re-roof the house but I am not at the point where I can afford to do it. So I can either allow the water to flow through while I fight to make enough for the new roof, or I can patch the hole as best I can while I fight to make enough for the new roof. By your rationale, both options are equally bad. That is simply not true.
