I would also include offer lists. Pinkel's entire recruiting classes average about 1.5 players that had offers from elite programs. That's what Odom inhereted. That's what he had to compete with on Day 1.
In 2019 alone Odom had, what, 5 players with elite offer lists. In 2020 it was about the same.
Also I trust Pinkel's and Odom's evaluations. I don't think they just ran after players that had stars behind their name. So imagine Odom signing more players with an elite offer list than Pinkel did in 3 years (prior to Odom becoming head coach). The St. Louis recruits were coming on board as well. So yeah, that's recruiting going up.
From 2016-18 Odom averaged about 1 player from each class that had an elite offer list.
Odom 2020 class was also about 86.5 avg. on 247Sports in November. That was good for #30 avg. at the time. I recall if Mizzou hadn't signed the kicker/punter it would have been #29.
