The difficult part is making is small, light weight, and portable.

I haven't read up on Elon Musk's quest to make them or what the flaw in his design was. I have however seen the specs from a hospital and it's isn't complicated and certainly doesn't have 1700 parts or more complicated than a tank, as Gyro said.
