However I see what you're saying and in your very unlikely scenario, I'd tell you to grab a weapon (perhaps a bat, a club, a knife, spear, sword, bow, a prosthetic of some sort), and keep it with you while you are getting your gun.
I'm assuming your room has a door or are we removing those in this scenario as well?
I own two guns, 1 handgun and 1 over under rifle/shotgun. Both guns are in a locked away, the rifle obviously is not what I would use for home defense so it's stashed away from everything else, the hand gun is in my bedroom in the top of a closet. I also have 2 baseball bats under the bed just in case I have the scenario that you have. Clearly I'd go for the hand gun but first I'm grabbing the bat, and locking the bedroom door, by time the criminals get through my front door and bedroom door I should have my weapon ready.
