of nowhere has all the land they need for solar and wind farms.

How many acres would be required for a city the size of KC?

If you want a safe sustainable energy source nuclear is the way to go. Wind and solar will never supply the on demand energy needs of 5 billion people.

Solar might be a possibility if we could harvest it from satellites before it is refracted by the atmosphere. I personally think wind is a bad idea because ultimately removing that energy from the atmosphere will in some way affect our weather.
