no evidence for such existence. Beyond that there is no evidence one particular religion is the true one. Most people belong to the religion they do because it was their parents' faith, the faith of their culture. 1 billion people live in India. The dominate religion is Hindu. If I am to suppose Christianity is true, those 1 billion people are going to burn in hell for all eternity because they have had little exposure to a western religion. Same with China, same with North Korea.
As far as looking at the complexity of the universe, it is overwhelming to me. I used the argument of personal incredulity many times in the past to dismiss evolution. But I was mistaken as I always had the image of man being the pinnacle of evolution. Evolution is not a ladder. It is a Bush. Humans aren't the pinnacle. We are one species adapted to our environment, like turtles, fish, birds, etc. We have cognitive abilities superior to other known animals. But we also have weaknesses. Other animals have better sense of smell, vision, superior strength and speed, gills to survive in water where we would drown.
Science brings improvement in life, from comforts we enjoy such as A/C to life saving medicine.
Religion doesn't advance human knowledge about the world around us. It is based on untestable dogma that leads to judgmental and violent behaviors. My beef isn't with God. I don't believe in God because a lack of evidence. My beef is with those who justify horrors of religion because they believe that it is what God wants. Whether that is Islamists bombing people or MizzouTigerz giddily telling someone they are a fool and are going to burn in hell forever because some bronze age men said so.
