in fact, made it all the way to the finals of the AIT last year and barely fell short of winning the title: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdvoCare_Invitational#2017_bracket

In addition to those tourney wins, Kim's players — under Cuonzo's tutelage — won 20 games, finished 4th place in the SEC, and reached the NCAA tournament as an 8 seed.

Under Kim, they only won 8 games, finished dead last in the SEC, and didn't even make the NIT.
