In 2006-07 and 2007-08 Mike Anderson was in the early stages of building his program, which to a large extent was how you are describing positionless defense. Everything was interchangable, although obviously Hannah was by far the most important player on the court on both ends. But the point is that the 5 was mostly manned by Dayrll Butterfield and Vaidotos Vulkus, forwards who would step out in space and knock down jumpers and who were reasonably mobile in terms of lateral quickness and running the court.
Which worked ok.....except when we played Nebraska because Alexs Maric was an actual center. And he would simply dominate every matchup with us and they would isolate him on the blocks and we would ineffectively foul out all our post players while he got high % shots every time they successfully fed him the ball. We were helpless to a crappy team like Nebraska simply because they had a marginally effective center and we didn't have one at all.
