step to reduce gun violence in the United States. Seeing that the vast majority of gun deaths are suicides, I think the first step should be suicide counseling for those individuals.

Of course, not. I am not going to force people at the end of gun to provide their money for suicide counseling. But, I would support charitable efforts to provide these services.
